Our client is a leading provider of sensors and flow meters throughout the UK.

They are looking to recruit a Business Development Manager with a strong background in Industrial sales.

You will be based at their Salisbury offices, but remote working is a definite option providing you are able to visit the office 1-2 times a week.

You will come from an Industrial Sales background, be able to work on your own initiative and be a team player in this ambitious business.

You will focus on converting enquiries, developing existing and new business/ increasing value of orders with existing and new customers. You will be liaising with engineering / marketing to research vertical opportunities. planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives.

BDM Responsibilities

Develop a thorough understanding of the products through training and their own initiative and research.
Identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services
seek out the appropriate contact in an organisation
generate leads and cold call prospective customers
meet with customers/clients face to face or over the phone
understand the needs of our customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these
think strategically – seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the whole business
work strategically – carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
draw up client enquiries /contracts – depending on the size of company/ project, this task may be completed by someone else, or agreements may not be as formal
have a good understanding of the businesses products or services and be able to advise others about them
ensure staff are on board throughout the organisation, and understand the need for change and what is required of them
Involve and where applicable train members of your team (commercially) , arranging external training where appropriate
discuss promotional strategy and activities with the marketing department
liaise with the MD and key staff / departments as appropriate
provide progress and sales reports for weekly meetings with sales pipeline and probable conversions
seek ways of improving the way the business operates
attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate
keep abreast of trends and changes in the industry and business.
help to plan sales campaigns
create a sales pipeline
negotiate pricing with customers, and suppliers in some cases
In return you will be offered a great basic, car allowance, bonus structure, and the ability to work from home 3 days a week if you choose to.
